About World Championship

World Championships in Renju are held every second year since 1989. Previously the World Championship has taken place in following countries: 1989 - Japan, 1991 - USSR, 1993 - Sweden, 1995 - Estonia, 1997 - Russia, 1999 - China, 2001 - Japan, 2003 - Sweden. This time the biggest renju event will take place in Tallinn, Estonia. The purpose of World Championship is to find out the strongest renju player in the world, who will get the title of World Champion. The World Championship consists of following events:

Everybody is welcome to travel to Tallinn to join any of the above listed tournaments (the tournaments with limitations, such as AT, WT and QT require permission). Here you can find the information about how to qualify for AT and QT. If you want to join BT, Gomoku or Blitz, you do not require any permission. You can play there regardless of your playing level. There is no tournament fee for AT, WT, QT and Blitz. The tournament fee for B-tournament is 25 EUR and Gomoku tournament 5 EUR. The tournament director is Ants Soosõrv and the main referee is Björn Wallgren.
